The Locarno, Stevenage c 1961

In a procedure that would be frowned upon today, the staff line up before each performance to be inspected, briefed and to ensure they know each other and project the best image. Looking at some of the scruffy individuals these days this was a great idea. (photo: David St John)

This photograph was taken at the Mecca Locarno, Wakefield around 1960 at a "Private Let" for Valusta, a clothing manufacturer. On the left is Dick Keith the General Manager. How fashions have changed!

Any lengths for publicity! The staff at Bradford Locarno dressed up as Cowboys. Second from left is Barry Goodwin who moved from the Locarno Wakefield. Regional Mecca Director at Bradford was later Wilf Preen, who I replaced at Wakefield. Photo courtesy of Paul Goddard, Carlsbad, Calafornia, USA

Barry Goodwin (right front) usually attracted a crowd of girls to every crazy publicity stunt. Photo is of Alan Boyce the District Director who preceeded Wilf Preen in Bradford. Photo is early 1960's. Photo courtesy of Paul Goddard, Carlsbad, California, USA
